The self-existent (Lord) has made the openings (of the senses) turn outward; therefore one sees the outer, not the inner Self. Some wise man, however, wishing for immortality, with eyes turned inward sees the inner Self.
The self-existent Lord fashioned the senses to face outward. So a person sees the outer, not the inner Self. But some wise person, longing for immortality, turns the gaze inward and sees the Self within.
