ततः thereafter, भरतः Bharata, तत्र there, पितुः father's, आलये abode, पितरम् father, अपश्यन् not seen, मातुः mother's, आलये in the abode, मातरम् mother, द्रष्टुम् to see, जगाम went.

Not finding his father in his abode, Bharata went to see his mother in her apartment. Bharata meets Kaikeyi -- hears from Kaikeyi about the demise of king Dasaratha and Rama's exile -- Vasistha calls upon Bharata to perform obsequies and get consecrated
