ततः then, धीमान् intelligent, सः that, मध्यं गतम् ascended to the centre (of the sky), अंशुमन्तम् luminous lord, महत् great, ज्योत्स्नावितानम् a canopy of moonlight, उद्वमन्तम् spreading, गोष्ठे in the stable, भ्रमन्तम् moving about, मत्तम् intoxicated, वृषमिव like a mighty bull, भानुमन्तम् like Sun, दिवि in the sky, ददर्श saw.

Then intelligent Hanuman observed the Moon in the central part of the sky spreading a canopy of his luminescence like the Sun, and looking like an intoxicated mighty (white) bull moving in a stable. Hanuman finds demons all over Lanka -- feels sad, unable to find Sita.
