अथ and then, लक्ष्मणपूर्वजः Lakshmana's brother, तथा likewise, तस्मिन् for his, निमित्तानि signs, दृष्टवा seeing, सुग्रीवम् in Sugriva, संपरिष्वज्य embraced, वचनम् these words, अब्रवीत् spoke.

Rama, brother of Lakshmana, seeing the signs of war, embraced Sugriva and spoke these words. Sri Rama warns Sugriva against such action being a king and commands Vanara army generals to besiege all the four gates of Lanka. Angada is sent to Ravana to communicate Rama's message that unless Ravana returns Sita back to Rama, he will be killed and Vibheeshana will be made the king of Lanka.
