महात्मानः great soul, ते they, अमरावत्याः of Amaravati, सुराःइव like gods, प्रतस्थुः went, महात्मानः great souls प्रवरायुधाः superb weapons, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, गजैश्च including elephants, तुरङ्गैश्च horses too, अम्बुन्दिस्स्वनैः sounding like rainy clouds, रथैश्च chariots also, तान् they, अनूत्पेतुः followed.

Those great souls followed by elephants, horses, Rakshasas with superb weapons sounding like the rumbling of rainy clouds went like gods of Amaravati.
