11.38 You are the primal Deity, the ancient Person; You are the supreme Resort of this world. You are the knower as also the object of knowledge, and the supreme Abode. O You of infinite forms, the Universe is pervaded by You!

11.38 (a) You are the Primal God and the Ancient Person. You are the Supreme resting place of the universe৷৷. (b)৷৷.You are the knower and that which must be known, and the Supreme abode. By You, O infinite of form, is this universe pervaded.

।।11.38।। आप ही आदिदेव और पुराणपुरुष हैं तथा आप ही इस संसारके परम आश्रय हैं। आप ही सबको जाननेवाले, जाननेयोग्य और परमधाम हैं। हे अनन्तरूप ! आपसे ही सम्पूर्ण संसार व्याप्त है।

।।11.38।। व्याख्या--'त्वमादिदेवः पुरुषः पुराणः'-- आप सम्पूर्ण देवताओंके आदिदेव हैं; क्योंकि सबसे पहले आप ही प्रकट होते हैं। आप पुराणपुरुष हैं; क्योंकि आप सदासे हैं और सदा ही रहनेवाले हैं।'त्वमस्य विश्वस्य परं निधानम्'-- देखने, सुनने, समझने और जाननेमें जो कुछ संसार आता है; और संसारकी उत्पत्ति, स्थिति,प्रलय आदि जो कुछ होता है, उस सबके परम आधार आप हैं। 'वेत्तासि'--आप सम्पूर्ण संसारको जाननेवाले हैं अर्थात् भूत, भविष्य और वर्तमान काल तथा देश, वस्तु, व्यक्ति आदि जो कुछ है, उन सबको जाननेवाले (सर्वज्ञ) आप ही हैं।'वेद्यम्'--वेदों, शास्त्रों, सन्तमहात्माओं आदिके द्वारा जाननेयोग्य केवल आप ही हैं।'परं धाम'--जिसको मुक्ति, परमपद आदि नामोंसे कहते हैं, जिसमें जाकर फिर लौटकर नहीं आना पड़ता और जिसको प्राप्त करनेपर करना, जानना और पाना कुछ भी बाकी नहीं रहता, ऐसे परमधाम आप हैं।  'अनन्तरूप'-- विराट्रूपसे प्रकट हुए आपके रूपोंका कोई पारावार नहीं है। सब तरफसे ही आपके अनन्त रूप हैं।'त्वया ततं विश्वम्'--आपसे यह सम्पूर्ण संसार व्याप्त है अर्थात् संसारके कणकणमें आप ही व्याप्त हो रहे हैं।

You are the original Personality of Godhead, the oldest, the ultimate sanctuary of this manifested cosmic world. You are the knower of everything, and You are all that is knowable. You are the supreme refuge, above the material modes. O limitless form! This whole cosmic manifestation is pervaded by You!

Everything is resting on the Supreme Personality of Godhead; therefore He is the ultimate rest. Nidhānam means that everything, even the Brahman effulgence, rests on the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa. He is the knower of everything that is happening in this world, and if knowledge has any end, He is the end of all knowledge; therefore He is the known and the knowable. He is the object of knowledge because He is all-pervading. Because He is the cause in the spiritual world, He is transcendental. He is also the chief personality in the transcendental world.
