English Translation
राजा king, इति thus, ब्रुवन्तम् while speaking, सूतम् charioteer, मन्त्रिसत्तमम् best of ministers, तं सुमन्त्रम् that Sumantra, शेषम् the rest, पुनः again, ब्रूहि tell, इति thus, वचनम् words, अब्रवीत् said.
English Commentary
Listening to the charioteer, the best of ministers (Sumantra), the king asked him to tell the rest. Sumantra describes the shadow of sorrow over Ayodhya -- withering plants and flowers, driedup ponds, immobile animals -- Dasaratha pines for Rama.
