English Translation

अहम् I, अजितेन्द्रियः without any control over my senses, तस्मिन् there, निपाने in a spot for drinking water, नदीम् river, रात्रौ in the night, अभ्यागतम् having arrived, महिषम् buffalo, गजं वा or elephant, अन्यम् any other, श्वापदं वा any wild animal, जिघांसुः desirous of killing, तत्र there, रात्रौ in the night, एकान्ते in a lonely place, विवृतकार्मुकः with bow strung.

English Commentary

And there, with no control over my senses, I hid in a lonely place with my bow in readiness intending to shoot a buffalo or an elephant or any other wild animal that might come to the spot for drinking water in the night.
